What the lines of the prayer mean
Διαφήμιση
The first part asks that the cross of Christ, and not evil, lead one’s life: “May the Holy Cross be my light.” The “dragon” is a biblical image of evil that appears in the book of Revelation.
The lines that follow are a direct refusal of temptation: not accepting empty advice, recognizing that what evil offers is bad, and handing it back. On the medal these lines appear as Latin initials around the cross, such as C.S.S.M.L., which stands for Crux Sacra Sit Mihi Lux, “May the Holy Cross be my light.”
