Who was Saint George
Publicidad
According to tradition, George was a Roman soldier born in the region of Cappadocia, in present-day Turkey. He is said to have been martyred around the year 303 for refusing to renounce the Christian faith during the persecution under Emperor Diocletian.
The details of his life came down through tradition, and the legend of the dragon appeared centuries later as an image of good winning over evil. The Church celebrates Saint George on April 23.
