The prayer to Saint George is one of the strongest popular devotions in Brazil and beyond. It is a prayer for protection, said in times of fear, danger and persecution.
I will walk clothed and armed with the weapons of Saint George, so that my enemies, having feet, will not reach me; having hands, will not seize me; having eyes, will not see me; and not even in thought will they be able to harm me. Firearms will not reach my body; knives and spears will break without touching my body; ropes and chains will snap without binding my body.
Jesus Christ, protect and defend me with the power of your holy and divine grace. Virgin of Nazareth, cover me with your sacred and divine mantle, protecting me in all my sorrows and afflictions. And God, with his divine mercy and great power, be my defender against the wickedness and persecution of my enemies. Glorious Saint George, in the name of God, extend your shield and your mighty weapons in my defense. Amen.
